Sulpan Pinipisakan is a 2km mountain tunnel with another 2km of branched passageways. It contains grand galleries and impressive formations and feeds the spectacular Pinipisakan Falls. It is advised that visitors keep to the main tunnel for their safety and the cave’s protection.
Upstream the Humaket River disappears into the Sulpan Humaket entrance (E1). This passage’s first lake can be avoided by climbing the south wall, but a second lake requires swimming. A large passage continues for 500m then meets the river. The north wall leads to the sump fed by the Humaket River. The south wall leads to a small lake then a big chamber. By climbing the east side, the Cobra’s Porch entrance can be reached (E2). From the bottom of the big chamber the west side can be climbed to reach the Hunger Chamber. A small, windy passage leads to Following Gallery and the Cabalighutan entrance (E3). This fragile section of the cave should be protected.
From the big chamber the river flows downstream through the main gallery. A narrow water-filled passage heads south and ends in a sump, which is dangerous with high water. The main gallery continues to the Pleasure Dome and ends at Pinipisakan entrance (E4).
